Adapting to survive beyond COVID-19- Fostering an Innovative Mindset in Healthcare as our best vaccination

COVID-19 has disrupted life around the world in devastating ways. It has put to challenge even the most efficient healthcare systems around the world. The human and economic costs have become prohibitive, and the business model of medicine has never been shown to be so obsolete and inefficient. On the other hand, Digital Health and many of its innovating technologies have never received so much appreciation even from their worst critics, physicians themselves. Successful innovators and safe physicians have very different profiles and core mindsets. Shaping young generations of physicians in how to become innovators will become our most powerful vaccination to many future pandemics.  Educating through design thinking, storytelling, entrepreneurship, artificial intelligence, and other highly pervasive information and communication technologies applied to health, may be as important as teaching basic and clinical sciences to them.
